Bill Tieleman
for City Council
A wealth of experience to bring to City Council
I am not a career politician – nor will I be. But I understand politics at all three government levels from years working with elected officials and public servants and also as a veteran political columnist. And I am bluntly honest!
What Bill will bring to City Council:
- Bill has a deep understanding of politics and bureaucracies.
- With over 20 years as a journalist and columnist, he is a good listener and communicator.
- His key interests are in the areas of democratic engagement, public safety, small business, neighbourhoods, and appropriate development to protect affordable housing.
Career-wise
- 24 years running successful communications consulting business.
- Director of Communications, Office of the BC Premier.
- Director of Communications, BC Federation of Labour.
- Key leadership role in four consecutive winning BC binding referenda.
Passions
- His three-year-old granddaughter.
There’s More to Life
- Bill runs his own wine, food and spirits blog – WineBarbarian.ca.
- He’s a good cook (specialty is stuffed zucchini flowers).
- He’s a baseball fan with two fantasy baseball teams.
- He’s a motorcyclist, riding his Suzuki SV 650 all year round.
- His favourite place in Vancouver is the Maritime Museum. His father was the last navigator on the famed RCMP ship the St. Roch – visiting it brings to mind his amazing voyages on the St. Roch and other vessels.
