Our Environment
What’s Gone Wrong
City Hall's claims of being green are contradicted by many of its policies. Among other things, it encourages environmentally unfriendly high-rises over low-rise wood buildings, fails to protect existing usable housing, and allows the steady erosion of green space and the tree canopy.
The TEAM Difference
TEAM will focus on local means and outcomes to protect our city's beautiful environment, with particular emphasis on caring for our parks and green spaces, encouraging more environmentally-friendly low-rise wood buildings, and ensuring our infrastructure is capable of withstanding harsh weather events.
Our Solutions
1
Protecting and Enhancing our Green Spaces
Expand tree planting, mature tree protections, retention and enhancement of green space, and consider the heat island impacts of development growth when planning communities.
2
Creating Walkable Communities
Work directly with neighbourhoods to create walkable communities that reduce traffic.
3
An Environmentally
Resilient City
Upgrade existing city infrastructure for long-term resiliency, including mitigating effects of harsh weather events, preventing raw sewage and pollution going into our waters.
