Planning for
Livability and Affordability
What’s Gone Wrong
The City has completely lost public trust with its top-down approach to planning and development that ignores residents’ concerns and the impact of growth on livability and affordability.
The TEAM Difference
TEAM will restore public trust by ensuring residents have a meaningful say in how their communities develop. We will prioritize livability and affordability in planning neighbourhood development, balancing density with infrastructure capacity.
Our Solutions
1
A New Plan
for Vancouver
Put residents and neighbourhoods first by replacing the Official Development Plan with a new neighbourhood-centred plan to address the many concerns of residents, including the Broadway, Jericho, and Rupert & Renfrew Plans.
2
Participatory Planning for All Neighbourhoods
Ensure that every new development is planned in consultation with local residents and businesses, within the scale and context of each neighbourhood, and with the needed infrastructure and amenities.
3
Affordable and Livable
Housing
Provide a mix of housing that fits within the local built form scale and context, reinstate minimum parking requirements for new buildings, and protect existing affordable rental housing.
4
Getting Projects Done
Simplify the zoning, development and building permitting processes to reduce costs and times for new developments and renovations, and speed up smaller projects with more flexible on-site review for renovation building permits.
5
Challenging Provincial Overreach
Demand the provincial government amend its one-size-fits-all approach to Bills 44, 46, and 47, supporting other municipalities who are calling for judicial review and withdrawal of these harmful and undemocratic policies.
