TEAM TO REACH OUT TO ALL 22 VANCOUVER NEIGHBOURHOODS AHEAD OF 2026 CIVIC ELECTION

VANCOUVER, May 14 -- TEAM for Livable Vancouver is reaching out to local residents with public meetings in all of the city’s 22 neighbourhoods in the lead-up to October’s civic election. The aim of the TEAM 22 Neighbourhoods Tour is to listen to residents’ concerns and priorities so the party’s candidates can give them a voice at City Hall.

The TEAM 22 Neighbourhoods Tour launches at 7 p.m. on May 22 at St. James Community Square, 3214 West 10th Avenue. The event will include a public engagement workshop and feature TEAM mayoral candidate Colleen Hardwick.

"Residents matter," says Hardwick.  "Vancouver's legacy of community planning has been steamrolled by City Hall for the benefit of the property development industry. It is Council's job to represent constituents, and TEAM is committed to being a voice for all neighbourhoods."

Every week TEAM will visit a different neighbourhood to listen to residents’ thoughts on issues like public safety, affordability, livability and local development, and to present TEAM’s plan for a more democratic and participatory approach to municipal governance and city planning.

TEAM’s community-based approach is the opposite of the one-size-fits-all Official Development Plan (ODP) passed unanimously by the current pro-developer City Council. Instead of honouring decades of neighbourhood-based urban planning, the anti-democratic ODP doesn’t mention neighbourhoods at all.

TEAM offers a clear alternative to the disastrous Broadway Plan and the ODP.

TEAM invites neighbourhood organizations across the City to contact us to help organize visits. City Hall isn’t listening to residents – but TEAM is.
