TEAM for a Livable Vancouver releases Local Environment Action Policy

VANCOUVER, Aug. 25, 2026 – TEAM for a Livable Vancouver today announced a practical plan to protect Vancouver’s trees, keep our waters clean, and strengthen environmental infrastructure.

TEAM’s Local Environmental Action policy will:

• Protect mature trees and green space by strengthening tree-retention requirements, expanding planting in neighbourhoods with inadequate canopy, and ensuring development leaves enough room for healthy trees.

• Keep Vancouver’s waters clean by preventing sewage and pollution from entering local waterways, improving water-quality monitoring, and upgrading aging sewer, stormwater, and drainage infrastructure.

• Build a more resilient city by preparing infrastructure for flooding, storms, extreme heat, drought, and population growth.

  
  

Vancouver’s trees, waterways, shorelines, and neighbourhood green spaces are essential public infrastructure. But City Hall continues to approve development policies that put greater pressure on mature trees, green space, drainage systems, and aging infrastructure.

TEAM will take a different approach by focusing on the environmental responsibilities City Hall can directly control, and delivering measurable local results.

A TEAM City Council will protect Vancouver’s tree canopy, improve water quality, strengthen infrastructure, and make every neighbourhood greener, cleaner, and more resilient.
