TEAM Slams Eby’s Decision to Hold Provincial Election

VANCOUVER, Sept. 22 — TEAM for a Livable Vancouver says now is not the right time to call a provincial election. 

“The timing is unfortunate, because Vancouver residents are already in the middle of an important civic election campaign,” says TEAM mayoral candidate Colleen Hardwick.

Hardwick says the provincial election shouldn’t overshadow the choices facing Vancouverites.

“Residents are already being asked to make important decisions about the future of their city, and that deserves their attention,” she says. 

Hardwick says Vancouverites should be able to focus on the questions that directly affect their neighbourhoods and their daily lives.

“Are our streets, sidewalks and facilities being maintained? Are our communities safe? Are our parks protected? Are core services being delivered? And is City Hall actually listening to residents?”

TEAM encourages residents to participate in both elections, but to look carefully at each on its own merits — and make sure important decisions about the future of Vancouver don’t get lost in the provincial campaign.
