Wah Gee was born in Hong Kong and grew up in Maple Ridge.  He has called Vancouver home for 25 years.

 

Wah has undergraduate degrees in marine biology and elementary education, and a master’s degree in educational leadership and administration, all from UBC.  He teaches in the Surrey school district, where he is active coaching and sponsoring extracurricular activities, and is an Indigenous Lead Teacher.  He holds staff and union leadership positions.

 

Music and sports are integral parts of Wah’s life. He plays guitar and enjoys discovering local musicians at Vancouver’s smaller venues.  He is also a self-described “huge sports fan."

 

Wah serves on the City of Vancouver’s Children, Youth and Families Advisory Committee.  One of his priorities if elected is to keep parks and recreation affordable and accessible, especially for low-income families, seniors and youth.

 

He believes that essential to the livability of a city are safe, inclusive parks, streets, and community facilities that feel welcoming to people of all ages, abilities, and backgrounds. 

 

His favourite place in Vancouver is Stanley Park and the surrounding waterfront. Some of his best times are spent relaxing at English Bay, enjoying a hot dog from a local vendor, and walking, rollerblading, or cycling around the seawall.

 

Wah feels a genuine connection to Vancouver’s parks, beaches, and recreation facilities as an active resident, sports enthusiast, and supporter of local culture. He would bring to Park Board an approachable, practical, and collaborative perspective—listening carefully to residents, considering different viewpoints, and focusing on decisions that keep these spaces accessible, welcoming, and well maintained for everyone.
