Parks & Recreation
What’s Gone Wrong
The mayor is trying to eliminate our Park Board, making it easier to sell off our green spaces to developers. The city has failed to properly fund park maintenance over successive mayors. As a result, over 70% of our recreational facilities have been labeled in “poor” or “very poor” condition.
The TEAM Difference
TEAM will end Ken Sim's attempt to get rid of the Park Board and protect our city's greenspace using every tool at our disposal. We will put the needs of residents first by restoring funding to our Parks and Recreation so that facilities get the upgrades they need.
Our Solutions
1
Protecting
the Park Board
Save the Park Board from Ken Sim’s power grab and ensure its continued independence and self-sufficiency by transferring finance, operations and facilities back to Park Board jurisdiction
2
Expanding our City Parks Designations
Designate existing temporary and de facto parks as permanent parks to ensure their existence for generations to come.
3
Investing in our
Recreational Facilities
Ensure that our recreational facilities meet the needs of residents, such as ensuring the Vancouver Aquatic Centre replacement includes a 50-metre pool.
