TEAM Chooses Two More City Council Candidates

Party now has five Council hopefuls and mayoral candidate Colleen Hardwick running in Oct. 17 civic election

VANCOUVER (June 9, 2026) – TEAM for a Livable Vancouver has added two people with solid roots in their neighbourhoods to its list of candidates for City Council.

Amanda Boggan is former president of the Downtown Eastside Neighbourhood Council and a strong defender of local residents’ rights, while Jonathan Weisman is a Dunbar-based lawyer with a solid track record of community involvement. Along with previously nominated TEAM City Council Candidates Peter Tu, Kathleen Larsen and Charles Kelly, they’re ready to fight for their neighbourhoods against Vancouver’s developer-friendly City Hall.

Boggan brings a close understanding of the challenges faced by low-income people to her candidacy. Diagnosed with autism, she worked for years at physical labour in warehouses and laundry services.

“What I bring to TEAM is a focused, disciplined approach to how municipal decision‑making works in real life from the perspective of the people who live with those decisions every day, like me, an ordinary citizen of Vancouver,” Boggan told TEAM’s June 7 nomination meeting.

Weisman studied politics and law in Kingston, Ottawa, London, and Washington, D.C. before moving to Vancouver, where he has helped steward community organizations from professional theatre to a school. He’s running for Council because he wants to use his legal and community experience to help families and youth thrive in Vancouver.

“I’ve been focused on guiding community organizations for years and am thrilled to be working with a committed group to strengthen the relationship between communities and City Hall,” Weisman says.

Boggan’s and Weisman’s impressive track records and skill sets make them valuable additions to TEAM’s City Council hopefuls. Charles Kelly has lived in Vancouver for 38 years and owned three businesses here, including the popular Gastown pub The Blarney Stone. Kathleen Larsen is a community and heritage planner who has 26 years of professional municipal planning experience in the Lower Mainland and is now a director at the Vancouver Heritage Foundation. Peter Tu’s background is in insurance, operations leadership and entrepreneurship. Born in Taiwan with Shandong roots, and shaped by formative years in Hong Kong, Britain, and Canada, he is fluent in English and Mandarin and conversational in Cantonese.

TEAM mayoral candidate Colleen Hardwick is from the third generation of a family of civic leaders and served on City Council from 2018 to 2022. She played a key role in creating the office of the Independent Auditor General, whose reports have already begun revealing problems that otherwise would not have come to light.

TEAM for a Livable Vancouver will hold a third candidate nomination meeting in July to choose two more City Council candidates, as well as School and Park board candidates.
